The Farhaven Summer Revel SOS will take place at the Pavilion at Kalopa State Park from 11am until 4pm on Saturday, July 15.
There will be a potluck lunch, and while period dishes would be preferred, they are not required.
After lunch we will have (weather permitting) rapier and/or unarmored combat practice. Some loaner weapons may be available, however, if you plan on fighting please be sure to bring your own armor.
We will be making pysanky to celebrate the height of summer. Traditionally pysanky are eggs decorated with Ukrainian folk designs using a wax-resist method. The word pysanka comes from the verb pysaty, “to write”, as the designs are not painted on, but written with beeswax. However, we will be making wooden pysanky with drawn or painted on designs. I will have white wooden eggs, some examples to look at, books on pysanky, colored pencils, markers, and paint. So be thinking of designs, or patterns you’d like to try out.
